Behavioral research was used to define countdown durations that felt natural and exciting. A scalable cloud-based architecture was built from the ground up with asynchronous content delivery designed to hold shared moments securely until the countdown completed. Real-time notification systems fire at precisely the right millisecond regardless of where users are in the world. The architecture was load-tested against heavy concurrent traffic.
